Wedding and Party Trends for 2026

(A little late posting this one which was meant to go out in January!!)
Do new wedding and party trends really emerge every single year? Perhaps not. However, when you look back to 2016, it becomes clear just how much has evolved.
Wedding flowers are now more colourful, more natural and far less heavy in style. There is less crisp white table linen and in its place, beautifully embroidered fabrics full of texture and character. Marquee interior linings have transformed dramatically for the better. And clients are now requesting serpentine dining tables instead of oval or long ones!
As a Wedding and party planner, I am seeing the following three trends for 2026.
1. Unique Venues with Exclusivity
Clients are increasingly drawn to venues that feel distinctive and private. Rather than choosing properties that are hosting three weddings in one weekend, couples are seeking venues that take on only a select number of events each year. This ensures they feel genuinely special and that proper attention is given to their day.
In Hampshire, The Grange is a stunning Grade I listed property where couples can truly make their mark on the beautiful surroundings. Julia Mitchell, who heads up the weddings, is a wonderful creative who understands what works so well within the property. There is also the option for up to 40 guests to stay on the estate, adding that additional intimacy of the property feeling entirely your own.
Farnham Castle is another property that oozes appeal as a venue which can feel like your very own. The gardens are exceptional and the views over Farnham incredible. Geraldine Lupton, Venue Director, and her team lead an impressive luxury selection of events.
2. Meaningful Entertainment Choices
Clients are choosing entertainment that genuinely means something to them, rather than opting for a traditional wedding or party band who are simply doing the circuit.
It might be a local artist from their home town, something that strikes a chord from their travels, or their favourite impersonator. Take the ‘meatloaf’ impersonator from a clients 40th birthday who made a dramatic entrance during the drinks reception to a rendition of ‘Bat out of hell’. Moments like these create lasting memories because they are personal, unexpected and completely authentic to the host.
3. Fabulous florals and fun table settings
As an event planner, it is such an exciting time when it comes to dressing a table and transforming a space for a wedding or party. Ten years ago, a handful of hire companies dominated the London market and surrounding areas. Now there is extraordinary choice and creativity available.
Linen tablecloths and napkins have taken on a whole new meaning, with companies such as Maison Margaux offering beautiful rental collections. Furniture hire has also evolved. The once tacky wedding hire suppliers with limited options have been replaced by elegant, design-led companies such as House of Furn, known for their timeless pieces.
Fun table settings are very much the way forward. There is less focus on ,more often than not, a disappointing wedding favour. In their place come playful and personal touches; for instance, a musical instrument to shake when the bride & groom enter the dinner. Like a ‘tambourine’ or a ‘maraca’ with the guest name calligraphed on. Check out wonderful creations by my talented calligrapher friend The Neon Nib
Marquee linings have also evolved into beautiful designs that elevate the dining experience and enhance those expansive marquee ceilings, creating a far more immersive atmosphere for guests.
